LG Display Announces Third Quarter 2026 Financial Results

LG Display Reports Improved Third-Quarter 2026 Profitability as OLED Strategy Drives Growth

LG Display has announced its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2026, reporting higher revenues and a return to operating and net profitability compared with the previous quarter. The results, prepared in accordance with Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS), reflect the company’s continued focus on expanding its OLED business, improving operational efficiency and strengthening its long-term profitability.

For the three-month period ended September 30, 2026, LG Display recorded revenues of KRW 6.28 trillion and operating profit of KRW 250.6 billion. Revenue growth was supported by increased shipments of large-sized and mobile OLED products during the seasonal peak period, while ongoing efforts to improve the product mix and control costs contributed to better operating performance.

Revenue Increases 12% Quarter-on-Quarter

LG Display’s third-quarter revenue reached KRW 6,277 billion, representing a 12% increase from KRW 5,612 billion in the second quarter of 2026. However, revenue declined 10% compared with KRW 6,957 billion in the third quarter of 2025.

The quarter-on-quarter improvement was primarily driven by stronger shipments of large-sized and mobile OLED products during the peak season. These results highlight the growing importance of OLED technology in the company’s product portfolio as LG Display continues to prioritize higher-value products and strengthen its competitive position in key display markets.

The year-on-year decline reflected lower shipments of mid-sized LCD products, consistent with the company’s strategy of optimizing its product portfolio around profitability rather than shipment volume alone. By focusing on products with stronger value propositions and better profit potential, LG Display aims to establish a more sustainable business structure amid changing market conditions.

Operating Profit Returns to Positive Territory

LG Display reported an operating profit of KRW 250.6 billion in the third quarter of 2026, compared with an operating loss of KRW 107.7 billion in the second quarter. The company also recorded operating profit of KRW 431 billion in the third quarter of 2025.

The return to quarterly operating profitability came despite external pressures, including a decline in the KRW/USD exchange rate and rising semiconductor costs. LG Display said its continued efforts to increase the proportion of high-value-added OLED products and improve operational efficiency helped support the recovery.

The results indicate progress in the company’s efforts to strengthen cost management and improve the profitability of its business operations. As market conditions remain uncertain, maintaining operational discipline and focusing on differentiated products are expected to remain important priorities.

Net Profit Reaches KRW 756 Billion

LG Display recorded net profit of KRW 755.6 billion in the third quarter of 2026, compared with a net loss of KRW 419 billion in the previous quarter. Net profit also improved significantly from approximately KRW 1.3 billion in the third quarter of 2025.

The quarter-on-quarter improvement of more than KRW 1 trillion was partly attributable to better financial gains and losses resulting from exchange-rate fluctuations. The improvement in net profit, alongside the return to operating profitability, marks a substantial recovery compared with the preceding quarter.

EBITDA reached KRW 1,214 billion, up from KRW 872 billion in the second quarter of 2026. However, EBITDA remained below the KRW 1,424 billion reported in the same period last year. The company posted an EBITDA margin of 19.3%, demonstrating its ability to generate earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization while continuing to invest in its business.

Strengthening the Small- and Mid-Sized Display Business

Looking ahead, LG Display will continue advancing its OLED-centered business portfolio while reinforcing a stable and sustainable profit structure. The company’s strategy combines differentiated technology leadership, product innovation and technology-driven cost improvements.

In its small- and mid-sized display business, LG Display plans to strengthen the competitiveness of premium products by leveraging its technological capabilities and established development and production expertise.

In the mobile display market, the company will focus on reinforcing its market position through advanced display technologies and reliable supply capabilities. Consistent product quality, manufacturing expertise and dependable delivery will remain important factors as the company works to meet customer requirements.

Within the IT display segment, LG Display will prioritize profitability by emphasizing high-value-added products and improving cost competitiveness. This approach is intended to help the company respond to evolving market demand while making more efficient use of its resources.

Expanding Premium OLED Opportunities

In its large-sized display business, LG Display aims to strengthen its position in the premium market by building on its proprietary OLED technologies and product competitiveness.

For OLED TV panels, the company intends to expand and strengthen its premium product lineup while addressing a broad range of customer needs through competitively priced offerings. This strategy seeks to balance technological differentiation with products that appeal to different market segments.

LG Display also plans to expand its presence in the OLED monitor market, particularly in gaming displays. By strengthening its Gaming OLED product lineup and applying its proprietary technologies, the company aims to capitalize on opportunities for advanced monitors that deliver differentiated display performance.

The continued development of its large-sized OLED portfolio will be a key part of LG Display’s efforts to increase the contribution of high-value-added products and improve the overall profitability of its display business.

Technology Innovation to Support Future Growth

Alongside its business and operational priorities, LG Display is investing in advanced technologies that can provide a lasting competitive advantage. The company is focused on developing solutions that are difficult for competitors to replicate, helping create new opportunities for growth and strengthen its position in the global display industry.

One example is FLiPP, a next-generation OLED patterning technology recently developed by the company. LG Display plans to build on its proprietary technologies and accumulated expertise to further improve its technological competitiveness.

The company will also focus on translating technological advances into measurable business outcomes. By connecting research and development with manufacturing efficiency, product differentiation and customer demand, LG Display aims to reinforce its long-term growth prospects.

Focus on Sustainable Profitability

Commenting on the results, Sung-hyun Kim, CFO of LG Display, said the company concentrated on strengthening its business competitiveness and improving operational efficiency during the third quarter, despite continued uncertainty in the external business environment.

Kim emphasized that fluctuations in exchange rates and component prices remain important challenges. He added that LG Display will continue pursuing differentiated technological advantages and cost innovation to improve its ability to respond to changing market conditions.

With stronger quarter-on-quarter revenue, a return to operating profit and a significant improvement in net income, LG Display is continuing its transition toward an OLED-focused business model. Its next priorities include expanding premium OLED products, improving cost competitiveness and developing proprietary technologies that can support sustainable profitability.

While year-on-year revenue and EBITDA remained lower, the latest results reflect progress in the company’s efforts to optimize its product portfolio and strengthen its financial performance. LG Display’s ability to sustain this momentum will depend on continued execution of its OLED strategy, operational improvements and effective management of external market pressures.
