Samsung’s Home Appliances Become the First Products To Receive BSI IT Security Label Through Korea-Germany Mutual Recognition Arrangement

Samsung’s Bespoke AI Appliances Earn BSI IT Security Label Through Korea-Germany Cybersecurity Agreement

Samsung Electronics announced that its latest smart appliances—the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra robot vacuum and the Bespoke AI Refrigerator—have received the BSI IT Security Label, a certification granted by Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). This achievement follows a newly established Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) between the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and BSI.

The MRA enables cybersecurity certifications issued by one agency to be recognized by the other, streamlining international product launches and enhancing cross-border trust. Under this agreement, Samsung products certified by KISA’s Certification of IoT Cybersecurity (CIC) are now eligible for equivalent recognition in Germany.

“We are honored to be the first company recognized under the Korea-Germany MRA,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Appliances R&D Team at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to lead in IoT security so that users can enjoy AI-powered home appliances with greater peace of mind.”

The announcement was marked by a ceremony at IFA 2025 in Berlin, hosted at the BSI booth and attended by representatives from KISA, BSI, and Samsung’s Digital Appliances division.

Strengthened IoT Security Standards

KISA’s CIC program evaluates the cybersecurity strength of connected devices—such as robot vacuums, smart cameras, and home appliances—across three levels: Lite, Basic, and Standard. The “Standard” grade represents the highest level of security, designed to withstand sophisticated cyber threats.

Samsung was the first company to receive the “Standard” rating for a robot vacuum last year and remains the only brand to hold that distinction. The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra and Bespoke AI Refrigerator have both now received this top-tier rating.

Advanced Protection for Smart Homes

Equipped with robust security features, Samsung’s latest devices help safeguard connected home environments. Key security technologies include:

  • Samsung Knox – Offers protection against malware and unauthorized access.
  • Knox Matrix Trust Chain – Continuously monitors the security posture of connected SmartThings devices to prevent breaches.
  • Knox Vault – Stores sensitive data, such as personal details and authentication keys, in a secure, isolated chip.

These protections allow users to safely enjoy advanced features like AI Object Recognition on the Jet Bot and seamless integration with SmartThings.

Samsung unveiled these new AI-powered appliances, along with its broader ecosystem of smart home innovations, at IFA 2025.
