What are Tonies?
Tonies are the characters that power the Toniebox 2, giving your child access to stories, games, and more. Putting a Tonie on top of the Toniebox 2 will play the content on the Tonie, which varies from character to character.
Book Tonies contain audio versions of some classic kids’ books, including Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants series, Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree, and Roald Dahl’s The BFG, with new books arriving all the time.
Story Time Tonies, Sleepy Time Tonies, and Content Tonies are all designed around beloved characters, and may feature stories, songs, and sound effects. Picking out Tonies based on your kids’ favourite characters can help them get to sleep, keep them entertained, and even teach them valuable lessons.
Creative Tonies let you record your own stories or messages onto them using the My Tonies app. You can use them to capture a beloved personal bedtime story, messages from friends and family, or anything else you might want on there. While the person recording the message does it through their phone, the kid receiving the Tonie will hear it through their Toniebox 2!
Alongside original characters, many Tonies come from beloved franchises. There are over 35 Disney Tonies, including Winnie the Pooh, Moana, Elsa, Lightning McQueen, and Stitch. Other brands include PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, CoComelon, and Dreamworks – there’s something for every child, and the range of available Tonies keeps growing.

What is the Toniebox 2?
The Toniebox 2 is the latest version of the hit audio player, designed with all the needs of kids aged 1–9 and their families in mind. It can keep kids entertained, help them settle down at night, and teach them important lessons – all in a closed environment, where they can’t access harmful content or spend any money.
The Toniebox 2 aims to increase the attention span of kids, to improve their listening comprehension skills, and to share great stories that encourage them to believe in themselves.
It interacts with the Tonies you’ve bought to deliver stories, songs, and more to your kids. Pick from dozens of different Tonies – which are divided by appropriate age group and type of content – and put any of them atop the Toniebox 2 to hear their story, sing along, or relax for the night!
Is it easy to use?
Controlling the Toniebox 2 couldn’t be simpler. Once the Tonie is on top of the box, playing the audio is as simple as squeezing one of the ears on top of your box’s head. The ears also control volume, and you can tap the side or tilt the Toniebox 2 to skip chapters, fast-forward, or rewind. It’s an easy, intuitive system.
The Toniebox 2’s edges are soft and safe, and the device is covered in wipeable fabric – it can withstand drops, tumbles, and any rough play from kids.
With ten hours of battery life, you can rest easy knowing that the Toniebox will always be there for your kids when they want it!
Tonieplay brings games to Toniebox 2
Tonieplay is a new feature exclusive to the Toniebox 2, giving kids new interactive games to play. New Tonieplay Tonies contain interactive experiences, letting kids work through fun challenges and even take control over stories with the new Tonieplay controller.
Interactive games and stories might task kids with guiding the actions of a character, while quizzes and challenges will test kids and see how well they’ve been paying attention!
When you pick up a Tonieplay game, you activate it the same way you would any other Tonie. Add the controller to the middle of the light ring on top of the box and press a button to start playing. Simple!
These games are designed to help improve kids’ hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, but also to help th
em believe in themselves and their own decisions, meet simple goals, and achieve something through their decision making. Kids can even team up with parents, relatives, siblings, or friends and play together across several of the games.
The Tonieplay experience is still completely screen-free. There are no ads or ways to spend extra money within the games, so you can trust that your child is safe to play with their Tonieplay games unsupervised.

It’ll change colour, light up and darken different sections, and change depending on the content being played. This also means that Tonieplay games can have visual elements without needing a screen.
The Toniebox 2 has had a huge boost in capacity compared to the original: 32GB compared to 8GB, so you can store over 200 Tonies worth of information on it. USB-C charging also means shorter charge times: a ten-minute charge will give you 40 minutes of power, which is perfect if it needs a boost before sleep.
