Samsung Broadens Global Rollout of Sleep Apnea Detection on Galaxy Watch Series

Samsung Expands Sleep Apnea Detection Feature to 70 Global Markets

Samsung Electronics announced today the expansion of its Sleep Apnea feature, available through the Samsung Health Monitor app on the Galaxy Watch series, to 34 additional European countries, as well as Australia and Singapore. This brings the feature’s global availability to 70 markets.

This expansion follows the feature receiving CE (Conformité Européenne) marking, confirming that it meets the European Union’s health, safety, and environmental standards. The CE certification underscores Samsung’s leadership in sleep health technology. The feature has also been approved by regulatory authorities in Australia and Singapore — the Therapeutic Goods Administration and Health Sciences Authority, respectively.

The global rollout builds on Samsung’s earlier milestone of securing De Novo authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — marking the first time a wearable device was approved to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. Additional approvals have been granted by regulatory agencies in South Korea, Brazil (ANVISA), and Canada.

Samsung recognizes the vital role sleep plays in overall well-being and remains dedicated to supporting users in improving sleep quality. Through personalized sleep coaching, monitoring of sleep patterns, and features like Sleep Apnea detection, users are better equipped to understand and manage their sleep health. Early detection of sleep apnea symptoms can help prevent serious, often overlooked health issues.

This global expansion reflects Samsung’s ongoing commitment to delivering impactful health insights via wearable technology. By making the FDA-authorized Sleep Apnea feature more widely available, Samsung is empowering users around the world to take proactive steps toward healthier sleep and better overall wellness.
