Brian McCarthy Joins Cursor to Lead Global Revenue and Field Operations

Cursor has appointed seasoned enterprise software executive Brian McCarthy as President of Global Revenue and Field Operations, a move that underscores the company’s rapid growth and expanding enterprise adoption in the era of AI-driven software development.

McCarthy brings more than two decades of experience building and scaling global go-to-market organizations across high-growth technology companies. His appointment comes at a time when enterprises worldwide are rethinking how software is created, maintained, and deployed, with AI-powered tools becoming central to development workflows.

A Leadership Hire at a Critical Growth Stage

Cursor has seen significant adoption among large organizations, with the platform now used by more than 50,000 engineering teams worldwide. Nearly 70% of Fortune 1000 companies are among its customers, reflecting the increasing demand for AI-assisted development tools across enterprise environments.

According to Jordan Topoleski, Chief Operating Officer of Cursor, the company is scaling rapidly to meet this demand.

Enterprise demand for Cursor has grown at an extraordinary rate. As the world’s largest companies rethink how they develop their software, we have scaled rapidly to support our customers globally. Brian’s experience building and managing world-class go-to-market organizations will help us meet that demand and better serve enterprises that distribute software at scale.”

McCarthy’s role will focus on expanding global revenue operations, strengthening field execution, and building strategic partnerships as Cursor continues to grow its enterprise footprint.

Proven Track Record in Enterprise Software

Before joining Cursor, McCarthy served as President and Chief Revenue Officer at Rubrik, where he led the company’s global go-to-market strategy. His responsibilities included worldwide sales, operations, field execution, and partner ecosystems. During his tenure, Rubrik achieved major milestones, including its initial public offering, international expansion, and consistent strong performance.

Earlier in his career, McCarthy held the position of Director of Revenue at ThoughtSpot, where he oversaw sales, services, and support during the company’s shift to a predominantly SaaS-based business model. He also held senior leadership roles at AppDynamics after its acquisition by Cisco and at Qlik, where he focused on driving enterprise adoption.

His background in scaling revenue operations and managing complex enterprise sales cycles is expected to play a key role in Cursor’s next phase of growth.

Accelerating AI-Driven Software Development

McCarthy emphasized the transformative impact Cursor is having on software development and enterprise engineering teams.

Cursor is redefining what it means to create software. The pace of adoption by enterprises is extraordinary, and I’m excited to join the team to help expand the business globally and support engineering organizations in their AI adoption journey.”

As organizations increasingly adopt AI-assisted coding, tools like Cursor are becoming integral to development pipelines. By helping teams write, review, and maintain code more efficiently, Cursor aims to streamline workflows and reduce the complexity of building modern applications.
