Hon Hai Technology Group Strengthens Global ESG Performance with Third Consecutive Year of Improved Independent Audits
Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, has announced another year of progress in strengthening its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance across its global manufacturing network. The company’s latest independent, third-party audits demonstrate continued improvements in operational excellence, responsible business practices, and risk management, marking the third consecutive year of stronger audit results.
Guided by its corporate philosophy of “EPS + ESG = Sustainability,” Foxconn continues to integrate environmental responsibility, social accountability, and sound governance into its global operations. The latest audit cycle reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards across its manufacturing facilities while promoting transparency, continuous improvement, and responsible growth.
Independent Audits Across Global Manufacturing Sites
The comprehensive audit program covered several of Foxconn’s major manufacturing locations across Brazil, Vietnam, China, India, and Mexico. These assessments were conducted under the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Validated Assessment Program (VAP), one of the electronics industry’s most widely recognized frameworks for evaluating responsible business practices.
The RBA VAP examines organizations across several critical ESG categories, including:
- Labor rights
- Occupational health and safety
- Environmental management
- Business ethics
- Management systems
- Responsible supply chain practices
The latest audit cycle produced an overall compliance score of 89.7%, representing another year of measurable progress across Foxconn’s global operations.
Importantly, auditors found no priority non-conformances, the most serious category of violations defined under the RBA assessment framework. This result demonstrates that the company’s governance systems continue to mature while supporting greater operational consistency across geographically diverse manufacturing sites.
Expanding Global ESG Governance
Foxconn has steadily expanded its participation in independent ESG assessments over recent years.
By the end of 2025, the company had completed 85 RBA Validated Assessment Program audits across 65 manufacturing sites worldwide.
These efforts have resulted in multiple internationally recognized certifications, including:
- Six Platinum certifications
- Two Gold certifications
- Thirty-three Silver certifications
These certifications recognize facilities that consistently meet high standards in responsible manufacturing, workforce protection, environmental stewardship, and ethical business conduct.
Rather than treating audits as compliance exercises alone, Foxconn uses the assessment process to identify operational risks, improve internal management systems, and strengthen governance across its global production network.
Enhanced Audits Focus on Higher-Risk Operations
During 2025, Foxconn expanded its ESG oversight by conducting enhanced RBA VAP audits at nine strategically selected manufacturing sites.
These locations were chosen based on several operational and governance factors, including:
- Workforce size
- Manufacturing complexity
- Geographic risk
- Historical stakeholder concerns
- Operational importance
The enhanced assessment process allows the company to focus additional attention on facilities where continuous improvement can generate the greatest operational and social impact.
Across the nine audited sites, independent assessors completed a total of 121 auditor-days, conducting detailed reviews of facility operations and management systems.
As part of the assessment process, auditors interviewed 1,279 employees, providing valuable insights into workplace practices, labor conditions, employee well-being, and management effectiveness.
This extensive engagement helps ensure that audit findings accurately reflect day-to-day workplace conditions rather than relying solely on documentation or management reporting.
Strong Performance Across Global Sites
Several Foxconn facilities achieved particularly noteworthy results during the latest assessment cycle.
The company’s manufacturing site in São Paulo, Brazil, completed its first-ever RBA VAP assessment and earned a perfect score of 200 points, receiving the program’s highest recognition—Platinum Certification.
This achievement demonstrates the site’s strong performance across all major ESG categories from its initial assessment.
Meanwhile, Foxconn’s Yantai facility in China also completed its first RBA audit, earning a Silver Certification, establishing a strong foundation for future continuous improvement.
Other manufacturing facilities across China, India, and Mexico underwent follow-up audits, with each showing measurable progress compared to previous assessments.
These improvements highlight the effectiveness of Foxconn’s long-term approach to strengthening ESG governance through repeated evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing operational enhancements.

Continued Progress Across Key ESG Areas
The audit results demonstrate positive performance across several major ESG categories.
Environmental management remained one of Foxconn’s strongest performing areas, achieving a compliance rate of 93.5%.
This reflects the company’s continued efforts to improve environmental controls, resource management, pollution prevention, and sustainability practices throughout its manufacturing operations.
Business ethics also maintained exceptionally strong results, reaching a compliance score of 96.5%.
These findings indicate continued adherence to ethical business practices, governance standards, anti-corruption measures, and responsible management systems across Foxconn’s global facilities.
Sites participating in consecutive audits over a two-year period achieved an average improvement of 19.1 percentage points, illustrating how ongoing assessments support continuous operational development.
Among the most notable examples was the company’s Chengdu manufacturing site, which improved its overall audit score by 46.2 points compared with its previous assessment.
The improvements at Chengdu were observed across multiple categories, including:
- Labor practices
- Occupational health and safety
- Environmental performance
Similarly, Foxconn’s manufacturing facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, demonstrated significant advancement in responsible supply chain management.
The site’s compliance score in this category improved by 133%, reflecting substantial progress in supplier oversight, procurement governance, and responsible sourcing practices.
Identifying Areas for Future Improvement
While the overall audit results demonstrate meaningful progress, Foxconn also recognizes that continued improvement remains essential.
The independent assessment identified several areas where additional attention will further strengthen ESG performance across the organization.
Among the key priorities are:
- Labor rights
- Occupational health and safety
- Supply chain management
The report also highlighted the importance of improving consistency across manufacturing locations.
As a global organization operating in multiple countries, differences in local practices, workforce characteristics, and operational maturity can create variations in ESG performance.
Foxconn plans to continue reducing these differences by strengthening standardized management systems, improving governance frameworks, and sharing successful practices across facilities worldwide.
This approach supports more consistent implementation of responsible business practices regardless of geographic location.
Building Long-Term ESG Capability
Rather than viewing audits as one-time evaluations, Foxconn considers them an integral part of its broader sustainability strategy.
Independent assessments provide valuable feedback that helps management identify opportunities for operational improvement while reinforcing accountability throughout the organization.
The company also continues investing in employee training, management capability development, and internal governance systems that support responsible manufacturing over the long term.
Cross-site collaboration remains another important element of Foxconn’s strategy.
By sharing lessons learned and best practices between facilities, the company aims to accelerate improvements while building a stronger culture of continuous learning throughout its global operations.
Advancing Sustainable Manufacturing
As customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and investor priorities continue to evolve, responsible manufacturing has become an increasingly important competitive advantage.
Foxconn’s sustained progress in independent ESG assessments reflects its broader commitment to balancing operational excellence with environmental stewardship, employee well-being, ethical business practices, and supply chain responsibility.
Through ongoing third-party verification, strengthened governance systems, and continuous operational improvements, the company aims to enhance transparency while building greater trust with customers, employees, investors, and other stakeholders.
Looking ahead, Foxconn plans to further improve global ESG consistency by expanding independent audits, optimizing management systems, strengthening organizational capabilities, and promoting knowledge sharing across its worldwide manufacturing network.
As the company continues advancing its sustainability journey, its philosophy of integrating financial performance with environmental and social responsibility remains central to supporting long-term business resilience and sustainable global growth.
