BRIDGEWATER, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The MIPI Alliance, a global industry consortium responsible for developing standardized wired interface specifications for mobile and connected ecosystems, has announced the recipients of its 2025 Membership Awards. The honorees were formally recognized during the organization’s 13th annual awards ceremony, held alongside Member Meeting #72 in Berlin, Germany.
The annual Membership Awards highlight the contributions of individuals who have played a key role in advancing MIPI technologies and strengthening collaboration across the global semiconductor, mobile, automotive, and electronics industries.
According to the Alliance, this year’s recipients reflect the growing importance of interoperability, high-performance connectivity, and standardized interfaces in an increasingly data-driven and intelligent technology landscape.
Recognition of Innovation and Collaboration Across the Ecosystem
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Hezi Saar, Chair of the MIPI Alliance, emphasized the significance of member contributions in shaping the future of connected systems.
“The MIPI Alliance Membership Awards reflect our members’ commitment to driving innovation while pushing the boundaries of efficiency,” Saar said. “This year’s honorees have demonstrated outstanding leadership, helping position MIPI technologies to address the evolving needs of increasingly connected, intelligent and data-rich systems across the diverse industries we serve. We congratulate these recipients and extend our appreciation for their continued contributions to MIPI Alliance.”
The awards are designed not only to recognize technical achievements but also to highlight leadership, long-term service, and collaborative efforts across MIPI working groups and governance structures.
Recipients are selected through a structured evaluation process. Nominations are submitted by MIPI members and reviewed by the Awards Recognition Committee (ARComm), which then recommends finalists to the MIPI Alliance Board of Directors for final approval.
Four Major Award Categories Presented
During the 13th annual ceremony, four individuals were recognized across four distinct award categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Working Group Leadership Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Special Achievement Award.
Each category reflects a different dimension of contribution, ranging from long-term leadership and technical innovation to operational excellence and organizational support.
Lifetime Achievement Award: Edo Cohen, Valens Semiconductor
The Lifetime Achievement Award represents the highest honor presented by the MIPI Alliance. It is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated at least seven years of sustained service and have made significant contributions to working groups, board activities, or other key initiatives within the organization.
This year’s recipient, Edo Cohen of Valens Semiconductor, was recognized for an exceptional 17-year track record of leadership and technical contributions.
Cohen has played a pivotal role in advancing next-generation display specifications and has been instrumental in driving enhancements to the MIPI A-PHY specification, which is increasingly important in automotive and high-speed connectivity applications.
His contributions extend beyond technical development. He has also actively supported ecosystem adoption efforts and helped shape the MIPI A-PHY Compliance Program, which ensures interoperability and reliability across implementations.
Currently, Cohen serves in several key leadership positions within the Alliance, including:
- Vice Chair of the MIPI Technical Steering Group
- Co-Chair of the A-PHY Working Group
- Chair of the newly established Physical AI Birds of a Feather (BoF) Group
He was previously recognized with a MIPI Working Group Leadership Award in 2021, further underscoring his long-standing impact on the organization.
The Alliance noted that Cohen’s work has helped bridge the gap between emerging automotive requirements and scalable interface solutions, reinforcing MIPI’s relevance in next-generation mobility systems.

Working Group Leadership Award: Aruni Nelson, Intel Corporation
The Working Group Leadership Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and technical contributions within MIPI working groups.
This year’s award was presented to Aruni Nelson of Intel Corporation, in recognition of her significant leadership within the Audio Working Group.
Nelson has served as Chair of the Audio Working Group, where she has been instrumental in guiding the development and release of key audio interface specifications.
Her leadership contributed directly to the release of:
- MIPI SoundWire for I3S (SWI3S) v1.0
- Ongoing development of SWI3S v1.1
- The upcoming Audio Bus Controller Interface (ABCI) v1.0
These specifications are designed to enhance audio subsystem performance, scalability, and integration across a wide range of devices, including mobile platforms and embedded systems.
In addition to her chair responsibilities, Nelson holds multiple leadership roles across the Alliance. She also leads the Audio PHY Subgroup and serves as:
- Chair of the I/O Bridges Working Group
- Co-Vice Chair of the I3C Working Group
Her broad involvement across multiple technical areas highlights her deep expertise and cross-functional influence within the organization.
The Alliance recognized Nelson for her ability to guide complex technical discussions and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders, contributing to the timely advancement of critical audio interface standards.
Distinguished Service Award: Rod Hogan, Apple Inc.
The Distinguished Service Award is presented to individuals who have made meaningful and sustained contributions to the MIPI specification development process or to organizational areas such as the Board, marketing, or testing initiatives.
This year’s recipient, Rod Hogan of Apple Inc., was honored for his extensive contributions to the MIPI Audio Working Group.
Hogan has played a significant role in evaluating, refining, and advancing audio-related proposals and specification features. His work has helped ensure that emerging standards meet both technical requirements and real-world implementation needs across the industry.
The Alliance highlighted his dedication to maintaining high technical quality and his consistent engagement in the development process, which has contributed to the strength and maturity of MIPI’s audio ecosystem.
His efforts have supported the evolution of more robust, efficient, and scalable audio solutions that benefit a wide range of consumer and professional devices.
Special Achievement Award: George Goodman, MIPI Alliance
The Special Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have made consistent and impactful contributions across multiple initiatives within the MIPI Alliance.
This year’s award was presented to George Goodman, who retired from MIPI Alliance in 2026 after years of service in key operational and program management roles.
Goodman was recognized for his multifaceted contributions, including his leadership and coordination across several major organizational areas. His responsibilities included serving as program manager for:
- PHY Steering Group
- A-PHY Working Group
- Security Working Group
- RFFE Working Group
- Display Working Group
- A-PHY Compliance Program
- MIPI liaison management activities
His work ensured the smooth operation of multiple technical groups and programs, supporting efficiency, coordination, and alignment across the Alliance’s global ecosystem.
The organization credited Goodman with playing a critical role in maintaining operational consistency and enabling collaboration across diverse technical domains.
Awards Governance and Selection Process
The MIPI Alliance emphasized that its awards process is designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and recognition of meaningful contributions.
Nominations are submitted by member companies across the global MIPI ecosystem. These nominations are reviewed by the Awards Recognition Committee (ARComm), which evaluates candidates based on contribution impact, leadership, technical achievements, and service history.
The committee then submits recommendations to the MIPI Alliance Board of Directors, which conducts the final approval process before recipients are officially recognized at the annual ceremony.
This structured approach ensures that award recipients represent the highest standards of technical excellence and community leadership within the organization.
