Samsung and Glass-Media Unveil Low-Power E-Paper Portfolio at NRF 2026

NEW YORK — Glass-Media and Samsung Electronics America have announced a new lineup of color e-paper accessories at NRF 2026. The partnership focuses on productizing the Samsung 32-inch EMDX Series to provide businesses with portable, battery-operated alternatives to traditional backlit digital signage and static printed materials.

Expansion of the Samsung Color E-Paper Ecosystem

The new product portfolio utilizes high-impact color e-paper technology characterized by a non-illuminated, matte finish. This design mimics the appearance of traditional paper while incorporating digital flexibility. By operating on ultra-low power and integrated batteries, these displays eliminate the requirement for permanent electrical wiring, which simplifies deployment in diverse commercial settings.

The hardware features a low-glare surface designed to mitigate visual fatigue and screen overstimulation. This technical profile targets organizations in the retail, hospitality, and healthcare sectors that require modern signage without the intensity of standard LED or LCD backlighting. The collaboration represents a shift toward standardized, “ready-to-buy” configurations for technology that was previously limited to bespoke installations.

Strategic Shift Toward Sustainable Signage Infrastructure

This launch extends a long-standing partnership that previously produced the FibreCraft™ line of paper-based poster stands in late 2025. The transition to a productized e-paper lineup indicates a strategic response to rising corporate demand for eco-conscious and energy-efficient display hardware. Unlike standard screens, these units maintain images with zero power consumption for static content, supporting broader sustainability goals.

By standardizing mounting and enclosure options, Samsung and Glass-Media are positioning these solutions for rapid scaling across large-scale retail and foodservice operations. The move addresses a specific market gap for high-fidelity digital displays that can be positioned in high-traffic areas where power access is restricted or where a softer visual aesthetic is preferred for brand storytelling.

Technical Versatility and Commercial Availability

The joint E-Paper solutions are available in multiple configurations, including floor-standing poster stands, wall mounts, and tabletop displays. These units are compatible with Samsung’s cloud-native Visual eXperience Transformation (VXT) platform, allowing for remote content management and real-time diagnostics across a fleet of devices.

  • Power Management: Battery-operated design allows for cordless placement in stanchions and end-cap displays.
  • Display Quality: QHD resolution combined with a color imaging algorithm ensures smooth gradations for marketing visuals.
  • Environmental Impact: Reduced energy requirements and recycled material components align with net-zero objectives.

The new accessory line will be integrated into Samsung’s Connected Experience Centers, allowing enterprise clients to evaluate e-paper’s role in omnichannel customer journeys. Preorders for the lineup have commenced at NRF 2026, with the first commercial shipments scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
