Samsung Highlights Sleep and Wellness Innovations at World Sleep 2025

Samsung Electronics joined global experts and industry leaders at World Sleep 2025, held from September 5–10 in Singapore, to spotlight the future of sleep health and personalized wellness.

Throughout the event, Samsung highlighted how its latest wearable technologies and the Samsung Health app work together to help people live healthier, more balanced lives. Samsung Newsroom captured key moments from the forum, where the company shared its vision for redefining personalized healthcare.

Inside Samsung’s Health Technology

From September 8–10, visitors to the Samsung Health booth (#120) explored the company’s innovations in sleep and overall health. Guests could take a short survey to discover their “Sleep Animal” type — one of eight patterns representing sleep duration, consistency and wake time.

The booth also featured the Samsung Health Software Development Kit (SDK), which provides developers with secure, consent-based access to health data. This toolkit reflects Samsung’s mission to seamlessly integrate technology into everyday life and drive better health outcomes, especially in the area of sleep.

On September 9, Samsung hosted a symposium on the future of wearables and healthcare technology. Jongmin Choi, Vice President of Health R&D at Samsung Electronics, shared the company’s vision:
“Sleep is a cornerstone of health, and Samsung is committed to helping people understand and improve it. Our innovations turn complex biometrics into actionable insights, empowering people to take meaningful steps toward better daily health.”

Leading the Charge in Sleep Health

A highlight of Samsung’s latest advances is the Galaxy Watch8 series, launched in July 2025. Designed to improve sleep tracking and coaching, the smartwatch introduces several groundbreaking features:

  • Bedtime Guidance – Provides personalized recommendations based on the two-process model of sleep regulation, which explains how circadian rhythms and sleep drive interact. The feature helps users build healthier, more consistent bedtime routines.
  • Sleep Apnea Detection – Available for users aged 22 and older without a prior diagnosis, this tool can flag signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) after just two nights of monitoring. Early detection may encourage timely medical consultation and reduce long-term health risks.
  • Vascular Load – Monitors stress levels in the vascular system during sleep. Since excessive nighttime fluctuations can impact cardiovascular health, this feature helps users better understand the link between sleep, stress, and heart wellness.
Building Everyday Wellness

Beyond sleep, the Galaxy Watch8 series expands Samsung’s broader health and fitness capabilities:

  • Antioxidant Index – A first for smartwatches, measuring carotenoid levels in the skin.
  • Running Coach – Delivers customized three- to five-week training programs.
  • Stress Management Tools – Including High Stress Alerts, guided breathing exercises, and an Energy Score to track daily resilience.

Together, these tools demonstrate Samsung’s commitment to turning fragmented health data into personalized, easy-to-use insights. By combining advanced sensors, AI-driven analysis and a connected ecosystem, Samsung is setting new standards for how wearables can improve health — one night’s sleep at a time.
