Samsung’s 2025 OLED TV Earns VDE Real Black Certification
Samsung Electronics today announced that its 2025 OLED TV lineup, led by the S95F model, has officially received Real Black certification from the Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), a renowned German electrical engineering certification institute. This recognition confirms that Samsung’s OLED technology delivers an authentic black viewing experience that meets the highest industry standards.
The certification validates the TV’s ability to produce reflection-free images with near-perfect blacks measuring below 0.005 nits in dark settings, while also maintaining black accuracy in bright rooms and even under direct sunlight. The result is crystal-clear visuals with deep, true blacks and exceptional contrast.
“Earning VDE’s Real Black certification reflects our commitment to advancing OLED technology,” said Hoon Seol, Vice President and Head of CE Division at Samsung Electronics Germany. “We’re excited to bring customers world-class picture quality with the deepest blacks and unmatched color clarity.”
“VDE’s Real Black certification is reserved for displays that excel in our most rigorous evaluations,” added Ansgar Hinz, Chairman and CEO of VDE. “Samsung’s OLED distinguished itself by delivering accurate, consistent blacks across diverse lighting conditions — from dedicated home theaters to bright living rooms. This achievement showcases both technological innovation and real-world reliability.”
Meeting the Highest Standards for Real Black
Samsung’s flagship OLED series features Glare-Free 2.0, an advanced technology that preserves depth and detail by minimizing reflections. VDE’s testing confirmed the effectiveness of this feature through three demanding evaluations:
- Ambient light impact in bright rooms: Measured the effect of reflections on viewing comfort.
- Black level performance in dark environments: Verified blacks at 0.005 nits or lower.
- Surface gloss level: Assessed screen reflections to confirm glare reduction.
Exceptional Color and Gaming Performance
Beyond deep blacks, Samsung’s Real Black-certified OLED TVs deliver vivid color clarity and sharp contrast for both cinematic content and fast-paced gaming. With OLED Glare-Free technology, viewers enjoy lifelike visuals in any lighting condition.
The 2025 OLED lineup also leads in gaming performance, being the first in the industry certified with AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro and validated as NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible, ensuring smooth, responsive gameplay.
Samsung has maintained its position as the global TV market leader for 19 consecutive years, a legacy built on innovation and premium display technology.
