Synopsys Showcases Agentic AI, Accelerated Computing, and AI Physics at NVIDIA GTC Washington, D.C.

Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS) is highlighting the next era of engineering innovation at NVIDIA GTC Washington, D.C., October 27–29, showcasing how its advanced silicon-to-systems solutions — now combined with Ansys — are driving productivity, performance, and discovery across industries. The company’s expanded portfolio accelerates product development from atomic-scale semiconductor design to complex physical systems such as aircraft and automobiles.

Through deep collaboration with NVIDIA, Synopsys is transforming engineering with AI integrations and GPU-accelerated computing, advancing how engineers design chips, simulate physics, and manufacture smarter. These innovations make the entire engineering process more intelligent, faster, and intuitive.

“Engineering is advancing at unprecedented speed despite increasing complexity — a reflection of how AI and GPU acceleration are reshaping what’s possible,” said Shankar Krishnamoorthy, Chief Product Development Officer at Synopsys. “With NVIDIA, we’re leading this transformation by combining pioneering AI technologies with the industry’s most comprehensive GPU-accelerated portfolio to empower next-generation engineering velocity and ingenuity.”

“AI is redefining what’s achievable in engineering and design,” added Tim Costa, GM of Industrial and Computational Engineering at NVIDIA. “Integrating NVIDIA AI physics and agentic AI within Synopsys tools enables engineers to simulate real-world complexities with extraordinary accuracy and speed — solving challenges once deemed impossible.”

Pioneering Agentic AI for Semiconductor Design

At GTC D.C., Synopsys announced a new Agentic AI collaboration with NVIDIA to drive the next frontier of semiconductor innovation. By integrating Synopsys AgentEngineer™ with the NVIDIA NeMo Agent Toolkit — including NVIDIA Nemotron open models and data — the companies are building autonomous design flows that dramatically enhance productivity, design quality, and time to market.

In early development, AI-driven design agents have shown their ability to accelerate formal verification — one of the most complex stages of chip design. These agents boost signoff depth and efficiency, automatically identifying critical bugs often missed by manual reviews. NVIDIA is piloting the technology to further validate its impact on real-world design processes, demonstrating how AI can act as both an optimizer and a collaborative engineer.

Expanding the Industry’s Broadest GPU-Accelerated Portfolio

Synopsys now offers nearly 20 GPU-accelerated software products, the broadest portfolio of its kind in engineering and simulation. These solutions are addressing some of the world’s most compute-intensive workloads, from physics simulations to materials modeling.

Lightning-Fast Physics Simulations

Using Ansys Fluent®, now part of the Synopsys family, engineers achieved a 500x speedup in fluid dynamics simulations by leveraging GPU acceleration and AI-based initialization. On eight NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, Ansys Fluent runs workloads 50x faster than on 258 CPU cores. When combined with NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo and NVIDIA DoMINO NIM, initialization speed increases another 10x, allowing simulations that once took two weeks to complete in under an hour. This unprecedented acceleration enables engineers to experiment more, innovate faster, and push the limits of physical modeling.

Accelerating Materials and Semiconductor Research

Synopsys is also transforming computational materials science by integrating Synopsys QuantumATK® with NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and the Blackwell architecture. This integration delivers up to a 15x reduction in time-to-results for density functional theory (DFT) and Non-equilibrium Green’s Function (NEGF) simulations. The result: engineering teams can model and analyze new materials with unmatched precision and speed, fueling advances in AI-powered electronics, sustainable materials, and next-generation devices.

A powerful example comes from Northrop Grumman’s Microelectronics Center (NGMC), which uses Synopsys QuantumATK with NVIDIA GPUs to develop new semiconductor materials for defense and commercial applications. By shortening development cycles from weeks to hours, NGMC achieves a 6–10x speedup in innovation, enabling breakthroughs that were previously out of reach.
