TiVo OS Unveils AI-Powered TV Enhancements at IFA 2026

TiVo OS Expands AI-Powered Discovery, Free Streaming and Interactive TV Experiences at IFA 2026

TiVo Platform Technologies LLC (“TiVo”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Inc. (NYSE: XPER), has announced a series of major enhancements to TiVo OS at IFA 2026, strengthening its position as an independent media platform focused on content discovery, personalization, streaming, live sports and interactive television experiences.

The latest updates introduce new generative AI-powered discovery capabilities, an expanded selection of free streaming content, enhanced sports discovery, interactive commerce features and significant platform optimizations designed to help smart TV manufacturers reduce hardware and deployment costs.

TiVo also announced the appointment of Tal Bone as senior vice president and general manager of TiVo OS. Bone brings more than a decade of experience developing and scaling smart TV and entertainment platforms worldwide. Before joining TiVo, he served as vice president of global product and chief technology officer at VIDAA, the smart TV operating system from Hisense, where he helped expand the platform to more than 40 million monthly active users globally.

Earlier in his career, Bone led Fire TV product initiatives across Europe at Amazon and co-founded and served as CEO of technology startup Remoty. His experience across product development, technology and global platform expansion is expected to support TiVo OS as it continues to grow across international markets.

“As TiVo OS continues to expand across global markets, Tal’s extensive experience building and scaling world-class TV platforms will be instrumental in accelerating our growth,” said Geir Skaaden, chief products and services officer at Xperi. “Tal brings a unique combination of product vision, engineering expertise and deep industry relationships. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team and look forward to further strengthening TiVo OS as the leading independent entertainment platform for consumers, content partners and device manufacturers.”

Creating a Smarter and More Open TV Experience

The television landscape has become increasingly fragmented, with viewers navigating multiple streaming services, live television platforms, sports offerings and free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels. TiVo OS is designed to simplify this experience by bringing content discovery and personalization to the center of the connected TV experience.

“As the TV ecosystem evolves, consumers increasingly want a simpler, more intelligent way to discover and enjoy content, while manufacturers need greater flexibility, stronger economics and more control over their customer experience,” said Tal Bone, senior vice president and general manager of TiVo OS.

“TiVo OS is uniquely positioned to meet those needs. By combining AI-powered discovery, an open and independent platform strategy, expanded content offerings, and a highly efficient operating system architecture, we’re creating the next generation of entertainment experiences that benefit viewers, partners, and the broader ecosystem.”

The latest enhancements are designed to provide consumers with greater choice while giving manufacturers, broadcasters, advertisers and content providers new opportunities to connect with audiences.

Expanded TiVo Channels

A key part of the latest TiVo OS update is the expansion of TiVo Channels, the platform’s free streaming offering.

TiVo is adding hundreds of new global and local FAST channels, giving viewers access to a broader range of entertainment without requiring additional paid subscriptions. The expanded catalog is intended to increase content choice while creating more opportunities for engagement and repeat viewing.

The TiVo Channels experience has also been redesigned to make navigation easier. Updates include a refreshed program guide, a new mini guide for faster channel switching and personalized content carousels designed to surface relevant programming based on viewer interests.

Together, these improvements aim to make free streaming content easier to discover while encouraging longer viewing sessions.

Enhanced Live Sports Discovery

Live sports remain an important part of the television experience, and TiVo OS is expanding the way viewers discover sporting events.

The platform now provides enhanced sports discovery across search, recommendations and the home screen. Fans can more easily identify live games and upcoming sporting events, follow their favorite sports content and access relevant programming through improved real-time event promotion.

By bringing live sports more prominently into the core TV experience, TiVo aims to help viewers find important events without having to search across multiple applications and services.

DVB-I Support for Next-Generation Broadcasting

TiVo OS now supports DVB-I, an important development for the evolution of broadcast television toward internet-based delivery.

DVB-I enables broadcasters to distribute television services over IP networks, allowing consumers to access local broadcast channels through an internet connection. This can simplify the viewing experience by reducing reliance on traditional aerial or antenna-based reception.

The technology also helps connect traditional broadcast television with emerging IP-based viewing models, giving broadcasters new ways to deliver their services while maintaining a familiar television experience for viewers.

Reducing Hardware Costs for Smart TV Manufacturers

In addition to enhancing consumer-facing features, TiVo is focusing on improving the efficiency of its operating system architecture.

Recent optimizations have significantly reduced the memory footprint of TiVo OS, enabling the platform to operate on devices with configurations as low as 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of eMMC storage.

For smart TV manufacturers, these improvements can provide greater flexibility when selecting hardware components and configurations. Lower memory and storage requirements can potentially reduce bill-of-material costs while allowing manufacturers to deploy It OS across a wider range of smart TVs and connected entertainment devices.

The optimization is particularly relevant in a competitive television market where manufacturers are seeking to balance advanced software experiences with cost-efficient hardware.

Bringing Interactive Experiences to the TV Screen

It OS is also expanding beyond traditional viewing and discovery through a partnership with IRCODE.

The collaboration combines AI and computer vision technologies to recognize content displayed on the television screen and enable viewers to interact with it directly.

These capabilities can create new opportunities across commerce, advertising, content discovery and companion experiences. For example, television content can become a gateway to additional information or interactive experiences, creating new ways for viewers to engage with what they are watching.

For content providers, advertisers and other ecosystem partners, these capabilities could also introduce new avenues for audience engagement and monetization.

Introducing AI-Powered Discovery with Agent TiVo

One of the most significant developments announced by It is the upcoming Agent TiVo, an AI-powered discovery experience designed to make finding entertainment more intuitive.

Instead of requiring viewers to rely on conventional keyword-based searches, Agent It will allow consumers to describe what they want to watch using natural conversation. The system is designed to interpret these requests and provide personalized recommendations and guidance.

This conversational approach could simplify content discovery as the number of available movies, television programs, sports events and streaming channels continues to grow.

By combining generative AI with It’s focus on personalization and content discovery, Agent TiVo represents another step toward a more intelligent and user-friendly television experience.

Building the Future of Connected Television

With its latest updates, TiVo OS is positioning itself around three core priorities: choice, intelligence and flexibility. Expanded free streaming provides consumers with more viewing options, enhanced sports discovery helps fans find live events more easily, and AI-powered features are designed to make navigating the increasingly complex entertainment landscape simpler.

At the same time, platform efficiency and the independent nature of It OS provide smart TV manufacturers with greater flexibility and opportunities to control their customer experiences.

Visitors to IFA Berlin can experience the latest It OS innovations at Hall 22, Stand 134.
