Crimson Moon Launches with Gothic Heavy-Metal Action on PC and Consoles
Crimson ProbablyMonsters, an independent video game company developing original AA titles with AAA-quality ambitions, has officially launched Crimson Moon, a gothic action-adventure RPG designed to combine intense combat, character progression, replayable missions, and a distinctive heavy-metal aesthetic.
The game is now available for $19.99 USD on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players looking for additional content can also purchase the $29.99 USD Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive cosmetic items and access to an upcoming game expansion.
The launch introduces players to a dark, high-Renaissance-inspired world where gothic architecture, supernatural enemies, brutal combat, and heavy-metal music come together to create a distinctive action experience.
Enter the World of Gildenarch
In Crimson Moon, players take on the role of the Nephilim, powerful human-angel hybrids who are bound to a mysterious dark prophecy. Their mission is to reclaim the besieged city of Gildenarch from an army of demons, undead creatures, vampires, and grotesque Hellgrowth abominations.
The game is built around intense and replayable missions, giving players opportunities to explore the city, battle increasingly dangerous enemies, discover hidden areas, and collect valuable rewards.
Gildenarch provides a dramatic setting for the adventure, with players fighting through imposing cathedrals, fortified battlements, shadow-filled districts, and other dangerous environments. Each mission is designed to offer a combination of combat challenges, exploration, and progression.
Rather than simply repeating the same encounters, the game introduces evolving enemy configurations and increasing challenges designed to make each run feel different. Players can encounter elite enemies, uncover secret locations, and obtain rare loot as they progress.
Between missions, players can further develop their characters by upgrading abilities, crafting equipment, refining builds, and unlocking new weapons and armor. This progression system allows players to adapt their characters to different combat styles and prepare for increasingly difficult encounters.
Precision Combat Meets Celestial Power
Combat is at the heart of Crimson Moon. The game emphasizes precision, timing, and deliberate attacks while giving players access to fluid weapon combinations, stylish executions, and powerful celestial transformations.
Players must learn enemy patterns and make strategic decisions about when to attack, defend, execute opponents, or unleash their supernatural abilities. Successful combat rewards timing and mastery, while character progression gives players additional tools to experiment with different approaches.
The Nephilim’s celestial powers can dramatically shift the momentum of a battle, allowing players to unleash devastating abilities when facing overwhelming enemy forces.
The combination of melee combat, weapon customization, character upgrades, and supernatural abilities creates a combat system designed to reward both newcomers and experienced action-game players.
Designed for Solo and Co-op Play
Crimson Moon can be played entirely as a solo experience, allowing players to experience the campaign and progression systems at their own pace.
For players who prefer to fight alongside a friend, the game also offers optional two-player cooperative gameplay. Co-op introduces opportunities for players to combine their abilities and create powerful combat synergies.
The game’s difficulty dynamically adapts to accommodate cooperative play, ensuring that the additional player does not simply make encounters easier. Instead, enemies and challenges can scale to provide a more demanding experience.
This combination of solo and cooperative gameplay gives players flexibility in how they approach Gildenarch, whether they prefer to master the Nephilim alone or team up for a shared demon-slaying adventure.
A Heavy-Metal Soundtrack
Music plays a central role in the atmosphere of Crimson Moon. The game features four original metal tracks created specifically for its most intense encounters, particularly its major boss battles.
Led by lead composer Chris Wilson and music manager Steve Pardo, the game’s music team collaborated with acclaimed metal musicians HEALTH, Jared Dines, Misha Mansoor, and Ricky Armellino.
The collaboration gives key battles their own musical identity, reinforcing the game’s gothic heavy-metal aesthetic and helping create a more immersive experience during its most dramatic encounters.

A Long-Term Vision for the Game
For ProbablyMonsters, Crimson Moon represents a project that has been years in the making.
“I’ve been dreaming of creating Crimson Moon since I was a teenager, and after years of development, I’m thrilled to share our epic power fantasy with players, whether they’re an action game expert or joining a friend for their first demon-slaying adventure,” said David Lesperance, General Manager and Game Director at ProbablyMonsters.
Lesperance said the development team set out to create a focused action-adventure RPG featuring a distinctive gothic world, powerful combat, and meaningful progression.
“We set out to create a focused action-adventure RPG with an inspired gothic world for players to marvel at, where every fight feels powerful and every run gives players new ways to improve,” he said. “We can’t wait to see how players make the Nephilim their own.”
The game’s Deluxe Edition expands the launch offering with the Ceremonial Armor Set and the Axe of the Gods, a guitar-shaped weapon cosmetic. Buyers will also receive access to an upcoming expansion planned for release at a later date.
The expansion provides a foundation for ProbablyMonsters to continue building on the world and gameplay introduced with the initial release.
Available Across Major Platforms
Crimson Moon is available now on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The standard edition is priced at $19.99 USD, while the Deluxe Edition costs $29.99 USD and includes the additional content described above.
The launch gives players across PC and current-generation consoles access to the same gothic action-adventure experience, with both solo and cooperative options available.
Players can also follow the game’s ongoing development and updates through its official social channels and community platforms.
