Gamescom 2026: Samsung Odyssey Redefines the Way You Play

Samsung Odyssey Redefines Gaming at Gamescom 2026

Gamescom 2026 Samsung Electronics returned to Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, bringing together gamers, streamers, media and industry partners for an immersive look at the future of gaming displays.

At Samsung’s booth, visitors experienced the company’s latest gaming monitors and display technologies alongside games, interactive activities and partner showcases. Designed around Gamescom 2026’s “The Heart of Gaming” theme, the experience highlighted how different players can enjoy games in different ways — from competitive gaming and open-world adventures to console play, cloud gaming and glasses-free 3D.

A key highlight came on August 27, when Samsung unveiled its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup during its #PlaySamsung: The Next Era of Gaming Displays event. The presentation introduced new developments across gaming displays, HDR technology and game content, giving visitors a closer look at how Samsung is approaching the next generation of gaming experiences.

The strong response from attendees reflected growing demand for gaming displays that combine high performance, advanced picture quality and formats tailored to different play styles.

A New Generation of Odyssey Takes the Spotlight

At the center of Samsung’s Gamescom presence was its latest Odyssey lineup, led by the new Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G7.

The Gamescom 2026 two monitors made their stage debut during the #PlaySamsung event, while the Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey G6 were showcased through digital demonstrations. Together, the four models illustrate the breadth of Samsung’s 2027 Odyssey portfolio, covering ultra-wide screens, curved OLED displays, high refresh rates and flexible display modes.

Popular Twitch streamer Esfand, known online as EsfandTV, joined Samsung on stage to discuss how display formats can influence the way players experience games.

“The clarity and contrast of Samsung’s new Odyssey lineup are so nice,” Esfand said. “Once you see the new monitors, you really notice the difference in how they fully immerse you in the game.”

A Wider View With the Odyssey OLED G9

The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) made a strong impression with its expansive 49-inch Dual QHD screen and 360Hz refresh rate.

As the Gamescom 2026 world’s first 49-inch Dual QHD gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate, the G9 is designed to give players a wider view of the action. At Gamescom, visitors could see how its ultra-wide format brings more of a game world into view, from maps and racing tracks to environments and action unfolding at the edges of the screen.

For games where awareness and quick reactions matter, the additional horizontal space can provide a broader perspective while maintaining a high refresh rate designed for fast-paced gameplay.

Bringing Game Worlds Closer With the OLED G7

Samsung also introduced the Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ), described as the world’s first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor.

Its 1000R curvature is designed to bring the edges of the screen closer to the player’s natural field of view. With approximately 72% more screen area than a 32-inch display, the monitor provides more room for detailed environments, interfaces and maps.

The Gamescom 2026 format is particularly suited to immersive games where players spend time exploring expansive worlds.

“The scale and curve of the new Odyssey OLED G7 create a whole new level of immersion,” one #PlaySamsung booth visitor said. “It’s great that Samsung designed the monitor with open-world environments in mind.”

Designed for Competitive and Multi-Mode Gaming

Samsung’s new Odyssey portfolio also targets players who prioritize speed and flexibility.

The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) offers three display modes through its Triple Mode feature. Players can choose UHD at up to 360Hz, QHD at up to 520Hz or FHD at up to 680Hz, allowing them to adjust resolution and refresh rate depending on the game and desired experience.

The 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) pushes refresh rates even further. Samsung describes it as the world’s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor. Its Dual Mode allows players to select QHD at up to 600Hz for greater image detail or HD at up to 1,100Hz when maximum refresh rate is the priority.

These options are particularly relevant for competitive players who value fast response and high frame rates.

“I’m excited about Samsung’s emphasis on frame rate,” a booth visitor said. “These monitors will be a game changer for competitive gaming.”

Together, the four displays demonstrate Samsung’s effort to give gamers greater choice based on the games they play and the way they prefer to play them.

HDR10+ GAMING Connects Developers and Displays

Beyond hardware, Samsung also highlighted the role of HDR technology in creating a more consistent gaming experience.

During the #PlaySamsung stage event, Samsung announced plans to expand HDR10+ GAMING support as developers look for ways to preserve their intended HDR presentation across compatible displays.

As part of the initiative, Samsung is collaborating with Activision Blizzard to bring HDR10+ GAMING to the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Samsung plans to expand HDR10+ GAMING support to more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027.

The technology is designed to help games deliver brighter highlights, deeper dark scenes and more accurate contrast while reducing the need for players to manually adjust HDR settings.

Esfand emphasized the importance of collaboration across the gaming ecosystem, noting that developers and hardware companies working together can ultimately create better experiences for players.

The technology was also showcased during the Samsung Odyssey Showdown: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on August 29. Gaming creators Zyro, Rewinside, EloTRiX and Rosemondy faced off in a 6v6 match, giving Gamescom visitors an opportunity to experience the title ahead of its October 23 release.

From Open-World Adventures to Glasses-Free 3D

Samsung’s Gamescom booth extended beyond traditional competitive gaming.

Pearl Abyss showcased Crimson Desert Enhanced, an updated version of its open-world action-adventure featuring additional cutscenes and dialogue. Rick van Beem, Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Pearl Abyss Europe, demonstrated how the Odyssey G8 complements the game’s expansive environments through features such as Dual Mode and HDR10+ GAMING support.

Visitors could also experience Crimson Desert on Samsung’s 83-inch OLED TV S99H in a dedicated console gaming area. The television features a 165Hz refresh rate, Game Mode and Ultimate Gaming Pack.

Samsung also highlighted glasses-free 3D gaming through its Odyssey 3D displays. Newly supported titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn were featured in demonstrations designed to show how 3D technology can add depth and spatial perspective to detailed virtual environments — without requiring specialized glasses.

Gaming Beyond the Traditional Monitor

The booth also highlighted Samsung Gaming Hub, demonstrating how players can access cloud gaming directly through compatible Samsung TVs.

Visitors could play through Samsung’s OLED TVs, illustrating how gaming is increasingly moving beyond traditional desktop setups. Whether using a high-refresh-rate gaming monitor, a large OLED TV, a curved display or a glasses-free 3D screen, players now have more options for how and where they experience games.

From competitive shooters and open-world adventures to console and cloud gaming, Samsung’s Gamescom showcase brought these different experiences together under one theme: giving players more freedom to choose their ideal setup.

The Future of Gaming Is More Flexible

At Gamescom 2026, Samsung demonstrated how its Odyssey lineup is evolving to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse gaming community.

The 2027 portfolio spans ultra-wide and curved OLED displays, extreme refresh rates and multi-mode configurations. Combined with developments such as HDR10+ GAMING, glasses-free 3D and Samsung Gaming Hub, the company is expanding its approach to gaming beyond a single screen format or play style.

Samsung’s presence at Gamescom 2026 ultimately reinforced a simple idea: there is no single way to play.

Whether players are chasing competitive advantages, exploring expansive worlds, enjoying console gaming from the couch or experimenting with new display technologies, the latest Odyssey lineup is designed to give them more ways to experience the games they love.
