Garmin celebrates global innovators and collaborations at 2025 Garmin Health Summit 

Garmin today revealed the winners of the 2025 Garmin Health Awards, recognizing pioneering digital health solutions powered by Garmin smartwatches, fitness trackers, and integrated biometric data. The awards were presented during the annual Garmin Health Summit.

2025 Garmin Health Award Honorees
  • Expert’s Choice – Fimo Health
    German-based Fimo Health earned the Expert’s Choice award for its innovative use of Garmin smartwatches to track biometric data in the quantitative monitoring of cancer-related fatigue (CrF). By analyzing key metrics such as heart rate, steps, and stress, Fimo Health seeks to improve diagnosis and management of CrF, supporting better care for cancer patients.
  • People’s Choice – Optimity
    Optimity, a technology company founded in Canada, was recognized with the People’s Choice award. Through personalized nudges, challenges, and rewards delivered via Garmin smartwatches, Optimity encourages lasting behavior change. Its platform supports physical, mental, and financial health, delivering measurable outcomes for both users and enterprise partners.

Both award winners received Garmin smartwatches and fitness trackers valued at up to $10,000.

Selection Process

Finalists were evaluated by two judging panels—one composed of industry experts and another of Summit attendees. Solutions were scored on customer impact, scalability, innovation, uniqueness, performance, and alignment with Garmin Health’s core focus areas: healthcare and research, insurance and employee well-being, and fitness and wellness.

Summit Highlights

Hosted this year at the New York Stock Exchange, the Garmin Health Summit gathered global leaders from health, technology, and wellness. The event opened with remarks from Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and featured exclusive product launches, research updates, and strategic announcements.

  • Product Announcements: Joe Schrick, Executive Vice President of Garmin Fitness & Outdoor Segments, introduced new devices including the Venu® 4—the most advanced Garmin wellness smartwatch to date—alongside Bounce™ 2 and Instinct® Crossover models.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Garmin Health and King’s College signed a multiyear agreement to collaborate on projects such as EMBRACE (Enhanced Maternal and Baby Results with AI-Supported Care and Empowerment), the largest Garmin Health academic partnership to date, focused on improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
  • Research Insights: The Health and Happiness Study, led by researchers from Harvard and Oxford, unveiled new findings linking biometric data with self-reported well-being across thousands of participants.
Keynotes & Expert Sessions

Day two of the Summit brought together more than 200 industry executives to discuss the growing role of wearable technology in healthcare, insurance, employee benefits, and fitness.

  • Keynote: Dr. Arjun Athreya of Mayo Clinic presented groundbreaking findings from a year-long decentralized study using Garmin smartwatches, highlighting how wearable data is advancing personalized care and digital health research.
  • Expert Talks:
    • Dr. Mathias Basner (University of Pennsylvania) shared biometric insights from the Polaris Dawn space mission, the first to incorporate Garmin smartwatches.
    • Nicholas Read (Vitality), Bonginkosi Shabalala (Amplify Health), and Stephanie Mascia (John Hancock) explored how technology fosters habit formation and risk prevention.
    • Gaute Sandal (SATS) discussed the role of wearable integration in enhancing member engagement at fitness clubs.
