HPE Recognized as a Leader in 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Storage Platforms
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) announced that it has been recognized as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Storage Platforms (ESP) and included in the associated Critical Capabilities research.
The recognition highlights HPE’s continued focus on modernizing enterprise storage through scalable infrastructure, AI-powered management, cyber resilience and cloud-based operations. As organizations increasingly rely on data-intensive applications and artificial intelligence, HPE is positioning its storage portfolio as an intelligent foundation for managing, protecting and activating data across hybrid IT environments.
Jim O’Dorisio, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Storage at HPE, said the recognition reflects the company’s focus on consistent execution and its strategy for helping organizations manage enterprise data more effectively.
According to HPE, businesses adopting AI require more than traditional storage capacity. They need infrastructure that can support data management, governance, security and rapid access across increasingly complex environments.
Building an Intelligent Data Foundation
HPE’s storage strategy centers on creating a unified data platform that combines high-performance storage with AI-driven cloud management, integrated cyber resilience, data protection and availability services.
The company’s approach is built around HPE Alletra Storage MP, a disaggregated storage architecture designed to provide flexibility as organizations’ performance and capacity requirements change.
The platform supports multiple storage workloads and is designed to help customers scale infrastructure without requiring disruptive upgrades. HPE delivers these capabilities through its GreenLake platform, combining infrastructure with cloud-based management and consumption models.
The company is also integrating AI into storage operations. Through intelligent monitoring and automated support capabilities, HPE aims to help IT teams identify infrastructure problems, understand potential causes and resolve issues more quickly.
HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 Targets AI and Unstructured Data
One of the key components of HPE’s storage portfolio is the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000, which is designed for unstructured data and AI-related workloads.
The platform combines object storage with native file services and is designed to support applications such as AI pipelines, analytics, active data lakes and data protection.
HPE says the X10000 offers increased performance and scalability while incorporating capabilities such as in-line metadata enrichment and RDMA acceleration. These features are intended to help organizations move and process data efficiently for demanding AI and analytics applications.
The X10000 has also received NVIDIA-Certified Storage validation, supporting its positioning for AI infrastructure environments.
HPE Data Fabric Software extends the storage environment by providing a unified data layer intended to help organizations access, govern and orchestrate data across edge and cloud environments.
Together, these technologies are designed to address a growing challenge for enterprises: managing large and diverse data sets across multiple locations while ensuring that information remains accessible, governed and protected.
Flexible Storage with HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000
Another major element of HPE’s portfolio is the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000, which provides unified block and file storage through a disaggregated, scale-out architecture.
HPE describes the B10000 as an industry-first platform that combines unified block and file storage on a single operating system and architecture.
The platform can now scale non-disruptively from two to six controller nodes, allowing organizations to add capacity and performance as needed. Customers can expand the environment one node at a time rather than undergoing large-scale infrastructure upgrades.
According to HPE, the system can deliver up to 50% higher performance while providing built-in dual-node fault tolerance.
The ability to scale performance and capacity independently is intended to give organizations greater flexibility as workloads evolve. Rather than replacing an entire storage environment when additional resources are required, businesses can expand specific components according to their needs.
This approach can help reduce operational disruption while supporting long-term infrastructure growth.
AI-Driven Storage Operations
HPE is also applying AI to storage management and support.
The company recently introduced real-time, agentic AI-driven support for the B10000. The technology is designed to detect, analyze and resolve infrastructure issues automatically.
Traditional predictive analytics often rely on predefined patterns or signatures to identify potential problems. HPE’s newer approach aims to move toward semantic understanding and prescriptive intelligence, allowing systems to analyze conditions and determine appropriate responses.
HPE says these capabilities are supported by more than a decade of AIOps learning across its global installed base.
For IT organizations, AI-driven operations could help reduce the amount of manual intervention required to monitor and maintain storage infrastructure. Automation can also help IT teams respond to issues more quickly and allow staff to focus on higher-value initiatives.

Strengthening Cyber Resilience and Data Protection
Data protection is another major component of HPE’s enterprise storage strategy.
HPE Zerto Software provides continuous data protection designed to support near-zero recovery point objectives, along with real-time encryption detection and rapid recovery capabilities.
Meanwhile, HPE StoreOnce Systems provide immutable and deduplicated backup capabilities. These technologies are intended to help organizations protect critical information against ransomware, data loss and other operational threats.
HPE’s broader cyber-resilience strategy is designed to cover multiple stages of the data protection lifecycle, including detection, protection, response and recovery.
The B10000 also includes native ransomware detection, automated immutable recovery points and integration with security information and event management systems.
As cyberattacks become increasingly disruptive to businesses and public-sector organizations, the ability to recover critical data quickly has become an important part of enterprise infrastructure planning.
Customer Experiences Highlight Storage Benefits
HPE says organizations across different industries are using Alletra Storage MP to support critical workloads.
At the City of New Orleans, the Real-Time Crime Center uses HPE Alletra Storage MP to support public safety operations. According to Ross Bourgeois, Director of the Real-Time Crime Center, the platform helps maintain continuous server availability while supporting thousands of video feeds and securely extending access to public safety partners.
Healthcare organization Brooks Rehabilitation is also using HPE Alletra Storage MP as part of its infrastructure. Bryan Nelson, Director of IT Operations, said the platform has helped the organization manage growth while reducing infrastructure complexity.
The organization achieved a reported 4:1 space savings through deduplication and compression while supporting the addition of a hospital and more than 20 clinics over a two-year period.
Hennings Group is another customer using HPE technology to support business continuity and data protection. According to CIO Alexandre Wenderlich, the company’s infrastructure can recover data in minutes or hours instead of days, while also allowing the organization to expand its environment without replacing its existing infrastructure.
These examples illustrate how organizations can use modern storage platforms to address requirements related to scalability, availability, security and recovery.
Gartner Magic Quadrant Recognition
The Gartner Magic Quadrant is a research framework that evaluates technology providers within specific markets. Providers are positioned across four categories: Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries and Niche Players.
The research is intended to provide organizations with a broader view of vendors operating within a particular market and help technology decision-makers evaluate providers based on their individual business and technology requirements.
HPE’s recognition as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Storage Platforms represents an external assessment of the company’s position within the enterprise storage market.
The report, titled Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Storage Platforms, was published on August 19, 2026, by analysts Joseph Unsworth, Chandra Mukhyala, Julia Palmer and Jeff Vogel.
Gartner notes that its research represents the opinions of its research organization and should not be interpreted as a factual endorsement of any particular vendor, product or service. Gartner also states that inclusion in a particular Magic Quadrant category does not constitute a recommendation to select a specific provider.
