Samsung Medison Unveils HERA Z10, Expanding Its Premium Women’s Health Ultrasound Portfolio

Samsung Medison has expanded its premium ultrasound portfolio for obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) with the launch of the HERA Z10, completing the company’s HERA Z Series alongside its flagship HERA Z20. The new system is designed to address the evolving needs of women’s healthcare by combining advanced imaging technologies with artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted workflows and diagnostic tools.

The launch comes at a time when maternal healthcare is becoming increasingly complex. Rising maternal age and the growing prevalence of pregnancy-related complications have heightened the importance of accurate prenatal imaging, early assessment and timely clinical decision-making. As expectations for prenatal care evolve, ultrasound systems are increasingly expected to support more than routine fetal examinations.

Modern women’s health diagnostics are expanding toward early identification of potential complications, comprehensive maternal assessments and more personalized approaches to pregnancy care. Against this backdrop, Samsung Medison is positioning the HERA Z Series as a unified platform designed to support clinicians across a broad range of maternal and fetal care needs.

Samsung Medison showcased the HERA Z Series at the 34th International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress, held in London from September 4 to 7. Under the theme “HERA Z, The Flagship Series,” the company presented the series as a next-generation diagnostic platform that brings together premium imaging, AI-powered workflows and specialized solutions for women’s healthcare.

A Complete Premium Ultrasound Lineup

With the addition of the HERA Z10, the HERA Z Series now consists of two systems — the flagship HERA Z20 and the newly launched HERA Z10.

The expanded lineup gives healthcare institutions greater flexibility when selecting premium ultrasound technology suited to their clinical environments and operational requirements. While maintaining the core technologies and clinical philosophy of the flagship platform, the HERA Z10 introduces a more versatile option for institutions seeking advanced diagnostic capabilities.

The HERA Z Series has been developed with both maternal and fetal care in mind. Its capabilities include AI-assisted automated measurement technologies and dedicated neonatal probes, supporting clinicians throughout different stages of pregnancy and extending the system’s usefulness across a range of clinical scenarios.

Advanced AI Workflows Meet Next-Generation Imaging

A key feature of the HERA Z10 is its combination of AI-based workflow solutions with advanced imaging architecture.

The system inherits the AI-powered workflow technologies of the HERA Z20 while incorporating advanced beamforming technology designed to enhance image clarity. By combining image quality with automation, the HERA Z10 is designed to help clinicians perform examinations more efficiently while maintaining consistency in key measurements.

One of the system’s notable workflow technologies is Live ViewAssist™. According to joint clinical research conducted with Professor Giuseppe Rizzo and Professor Daniele Di Mascio of Sapienza University of Rome, both founding members of ISUOG, Live ViewAssist™ can reduce scan times during mid-trimester detailed ultrasound examinations by up to 52%.

The technology is designed to support clinicians during examinations by simplifying aspects of the scanning process. Faster workflows can be particularly valuable in busy clinical environments, where improving examination efficiency can help healthcare professionals manage patient workloads while maintaining a high standard of care.

Another AI-powered solution, EzStructure™, is designed to simplify key measurement processes. According to Samsung Medison, it can reduce manual manipulation required for key measurement parameters by up to 71%.

By reducing repetitive manual tasks, the technology is intended to improve measurement consistency and objectivity while also helping reduce clinician fatigue. These workflow improvements highlight an important role for AI in medical imaging: supporting healthcare professionals by automating time-consuming processes rather than replacing clinical expertise.

AI Assistance for Complex and High-Risk Pregnancies

Beyond workflow automation, the HERA Z10 incorporates AI-assisted diagnostic capabilities designed to support more complex clinical situations.

One of these technologies is MV-Flow 3D™, which captures microvascular blood flow at high resolution. The technology is intended to provide additional clinical information in the management of high-risk pregnancies, including applications such as supporting the diagnosis of placenta accreta and evaluating abnormal uterine or umbilical cord blood vessels.

By visualizing blood flow at a detailed level, the technology can provide clinicians with additional information when assessing vascular structures and potential complications. Such capabilities are particularly relevant as prenatal care increasingly focuses on identifying risks as early and accurately as possible.

The HERA Z10 also features FibroidVue™, an AI-based solution designed to automatically segment, visualize and measure the uterus, endometrium and uterine fibroids.

Automating these processes can help clinicians assess uterine structures more intuitively and efficiently. By reducing the need for repetitive manual segmentation and measurement, FibroidVue™ is designed to streamline examinations and provide a more consistent approach to evaluating fibroids and related structures.

Together, these technologies demonstrate how the HERA Z10 combines AI-assisted workflow improvements with tools intended to support clinical assessment in more challenging cases.

Bringing Ultrasound and Digital Experiences Together

At the ISUOG World Congress, Samsung Medison went beyond product demonstrations to create interactive experiences centered on the broader possibilities of ultrasound technology.

One highlight was the “ART OF ULTRASOUND” experience, an AI-powered digital art exhibition that reinterpreted fetal ultrasound images through an artistic lens. The installation offered attendees a different way to experience ultrasound imagery, transforming clinical images into a form of digital artistic expression.

The concept also reflected the broader philosophy behind the HERA Z Series: technology can serve both clinical and human purposes. While ultrasound plays an essential role in medical diagnosis and monitoring, the images it produces can also become meaningful visual records for expectant parents.

Samsung Medison also demonstrated a digital solution integrating Galaxy Tab devices. The solution enables clinicians and mothers to monitor fetal growth records throughout the pregnancy journey, highlighting the potential for connected digital experiences to make pregnancy information more accessible and engaging.

By linking diagnostic technology with digital tools, Samsung Medison is exploring ways to create a more connected experience that extends beyond the ultrasound examination itself.

Extending Premium Care Across More Healthcare Settings

The launch of the HERA Z10 represents an expansion of Samsung Medison’s premium OB/GYN ultrasound portfolio and completes the HERA Z Series lineup.

“The launch of the HERA Z10 is more than just an addition to our product lineup; it represents a major milestone in extending the distinctive clinical value of the HERA Z Series to a wider range of healthcare settings,” said Jihyun Kim, Head of CX Team at Samsung Medison.

According to Kim, the company aims to combine premium imaging technology with advanced AI workflows to address diverse clinical requirements while enabling healthcare professionals to select solutions suited to their individual practice environments.

With the HERA Z10 joining the HERA Z20, Samsung Medison is presenting a broader premium ultrasound portfolio built around three central priorities: image quality, intelligent workflow and clinical versatility.

As women’s healthcare continues to evolve, technologies that can support earlier assessment, more efficient examinations and increasingly complex diagnostic needs will become ever more important. Through the HERA Z Series, Samsung Medison is seeking to meet those demands by bringing advanced imaging and AI-assisted tools together in a platform designed around the needs of both clinicians and patients.

The HERA Z10 therefore represents more than a new ultrasound system. It marks another step in Samsung Medison’s effort to redefine the role of ultrasound in modern women’s healthcare — making advanced technology more efficient, intelligent and adaptable to the changing demands of clinical practice.
