GMO GlobalSign Expands TLS Connect to Support SMEs Across APAC and the Middle East

GMO GlobalSign, a global provider of digital identity and security solutions, has announced the availability of TLS Connect by GMO for businesses across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Middle Eastern markets. The certificate lifecycle management (CLM) solution is designed specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that need a simple and affordable way to manage their Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates.

First introduced to customers in Western markets earlier this year, TLS Connect is now being made available across APAC and the Middle East as businesses in these regions face growing cybersecurity requirements and increasingly shorter TLS certificate lifespans.

TLS certificates are essential for securing websites, applications, online services, and digital communications. However, managing certificates manually can become challenging as organizations operate more digital services and certificates need to be renewed more frequently.

TLS Connect addresses this challenge by automating the deployment and renewal of public-trust TLS certificates. The solution is intended to help SMEs strengthen security, reduce the risk of certificate-related outages, support compliance requirements, and minimize the administrative burden associated with certificate management.

Addressing a Growing Certificate Management Challenge

GMO The expansion of TLS Connect comes at an important time for organizations worldwide. The validity period of TLS certificates is being reduced, requiring businesses to renew certificates more frequently.

Under changes approved by the Certificate Authority/Browser Forum, the first major reduction took effect on March 15, 2026, reducing the maximum TLS certificate lifespan from 398 days to 200 days. The validity period is scheduled to decrease further to 100 days in March 2027.

By March 2029, the maximum certificate validity period is expected to reach just 47 days.

These GMO changes are designed to strengthen online security by reducing the period during which compromised certificates could potentially remain active. However, shorter certificate lifespans also create additional operational responsibilities for organizations.

For businesses managing multiple certificates, manually tracking expiration dates and completing renewals can increase the likelihood of mistakes. An expired certificate can result in service disruptions, inaccessible websites, application failures, and loss of customer confidence.

For SMEs with limited IT resources, these challenges can be particularly difficult to manage.

Bringing Enterprise-Style Automation to SMEs

TLS Connect was developed to address the gap between the needs of smaller organizations and the complexity of traditional enterprise certificate lifecycle management platforms.

Large organizations often have dedicated security teams and established Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) expertise. Many SMEs, however, operate with smaller IT teams and limited cybersecurity budgets.

GMO GlobalSign says TLS Connect provides a lightweight alternative that enables smaller businesses to automate certificate management without requiring extensive PKI knowledge.

The platform includes certificate discovery and centralized management capabilities through an intuitive interface. It can be deployed on premises, allowing organizations to manage certificates across multiple endpoints from a central location.

By automating key certificate lifecycle processes, TLS Connect can help businesses reduce manual administrative work and improve visibility into their certificate environments.

A customer, Chandra Mohana, Senior Officer and Support Engineer at Konkan Specialty Polyproducts Pvt. Ltd., highlighted the simplicity of the platform, noting that TLS Connect provides a user-friendly process and a single dashboard for managing multiple nodes.

Strong Relevance Across APAC and the Middle East

The GMO new availability of TLS Connect is particularly relevant to APAC and Middle Eastern markets, where SMEs represent a significant portion of national economies.

According to GMO GlobalSign, SMEs account for approximately 94% of businesses in the United Arab Emirates, 97% in Australia, and 99% in Singapore and the Philippines.

These organizations are increasingly operating digital services and therefore face many of the same cybersecurity challenges as larger enterprises.

At the GMO same time, governments across the region are introducing or strengthening cybersecurity regulations designed to improve the protection of critical systems and digital infrastructure.

Australia, for example, has cybersecurity requirements associated with its Security of Critical Infrastructure Act. Singapore has established its Cybersecurity Act, while the UAE has introduced its Critical Information Infrastructure Protection policy.

India has also introduced cybersecurity controls for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, while the Philippines has established its National Cybersecurity Plan for 2023–2028.

Although these initiatives help strengthen digital security, they can also increase the responsibilities placed on businesses and their IT teams.

Cybersecurity Skills Shortage Increases Need for Automation

The challenge is further complicated by a shortage of cybersecurity professionals.

According to the 2025 ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study referenced by GMO GlobalSign, approximately one-third of organizations lack sufficient resources to adequately staff their security teams. A similar proportion reportedly faces difficulties affording professionals with the required cybersecurity skills.

The problem can be particularly significant for SMEs, which may not have dedicated cybersecurity specialists or the resources to provide extensive internal training.

As a result, automation is becoming increasingly important. Businesses need tools that can handle repetitive security tasks while providing visibility and control without requiring extensive specialist knowledge.

TLS Connect is positioned as a solution to this challenge by simplifying certificate discovery, deployment, monitoring, and renewal.

Simplifying TLS Certificate Management

The primary goal of TLS Connect is to make certificate lifecycle management easier for smaller organizations.

Instead of relying on manual tracking systems or complex enterprise CLM platforms, businesses can use a centralized dashboard to manage their TLS certificates.

Automated renewal can reduce the possibility of certificates expiring unexpectedly. This is especially important as certificate lifespans become shorter and organizations are required to complete renewals more frequently.

The platform is designed to provide the necessary automation without introducing the administrative and financial overhead often associated with larger certificate management systems.

This approach can help SMEs improve their security posture while keeping certificate management manageable for smaller IT teams.

Supporting Security and Compliance

TLS certificates play an important role in protecting digital communications and establishing trust between users and online services. Maintaining valid certificates is therefore an essential component of modern cybersecurity.

For businesses operating in regulated industries or markets with specific cybersecurity requirements, effective certificate management can also contribute to broader compliance efforts.

GMO GlobalSign believes that TLS Connect can help businesses stay ahead of evolving certificate requirements while reducing operational risks.

“The challenge of managing TLS certificates is no longer limited to large enterprises,” said Aditya Anand, Head of Business Unit for TLS & CLM CA Division at GMO GlobalSign.

Anand noted that shorter certificate lifespans mean SMEs face the same risks of missed renewals and unexpected outages as larger organizations, despite often having fewer resources available to manage them.

He described TLS Connect as an automated certificate lifecycle management solution designed specifically for smaller businesses.

A Flexible Approach to Certificate Management

Another key feature of TLS Connect is its deployment flexibility. The platform can be deployed on premises and provides centralized management across endpoints.

This can be useful for organizations that need greater control over their certificate infrastructure or have specific requirements around security and data management.

By combining centralized visibility with automation, the platform aims to help businesses manage certificates more efficiently as their digital environments expand.

Expanding GMO GlobalSign’s Regional Presence

The launch of TLS Connect across APAC and the Middle East strengthens GMO GlobalSign’s broader portfolio of identity and security solutions.

The company provides digital identity, authentication, encryption, and Public Key Infrastructure technologies to businesses, enterprises, cloud service providers, and Internet of Things organizations around the world.

Its solutions support a wide range of digital identities, devices, services, and connected technologies.

The expansion of TLS Connect gives smaller organizations in APAC and the Middle East access to certificate lifecycle automation that was traditionally associated with larger enterprises.

Looking Ahead

As TLS certificate validity periods continue to shrink, organizations of every size will need to rethink how they manage certificates. Manual processes that were once sufficient may become increasingly difficult as renewal cycles become shorter.

For SMEs, the combination of growing cybersecurity requirements, limited technical resources, and increasingly complex digital environments makes automation especially valuable.

With the introduction of TLS Connect across APAC and the Middle East, GMO GlobalSign is targeting this growing need with a solution focused on simplicity, affordability, and automation.

By helping businesses discover, manage, deploy, and renew TLS certificates from a centralized platform, TLS Connect aims to reduce administrative workloads while helping SMEs maintain secure and reliable digital services.

The expansion represents another step toward making enterprise-grade certificate lifecycle management more accessible to smaller businesses as the global digital security landscape continues to evolve.
