Apple Opens Apple Music Hall, a New State-of-the-Art Live Music Venue in London
Apple has announced the opening of Apple Music Hall, a brand-new state-of-the-art live music venue at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station. Designed to bring artists and fans closer together, the new 600-capacity venue combines an intimate concert atmosphere with advanced production, recording, broadcast, and Spatial Audio capabilities.
Apple Music Hall has been created as a dedicated space for unique live performances, giving artists greater creative freedom while providing fans with an immersive experience in one of London’s most distinctive locations.
“Apple’s deep love for music dates all the way back to the very beginning, from the launch of the iPod to the long-running iTunes Music Festival to the debut of Apple Music,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and International Content. “Today, with the opening of Apple Music Hall, we are once again taking an unprecedented step further in our commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music in ways only Apple can do.”
A New Kind of Live Music Experience
Located alongside the River Thames, Apple Music Hall has been designed to offer an intimate concert experience without compromising on the technology and production capabilities typically associated with much larger venues.
The venue takes architectural inspiration from the heritage of Battersea Power Station. Its interior incorporates elements including traditional brickwork, fluted arches, and bronze balconies inspired by the building’s historic oriel windows.
A large glass wall provides another connection to the surrounding landmark, offering panoramic views across the concourse and towards the River Thames. The combination of historic architectural elements and modern production technology gives Apple Music Hall a distinctive identity while keeping the focus firmly on live music.
With a capacity of 600 people, the venue has been deliberately designed to create a close relationship between performers and their audiences. Fans can experience performances from an intimate perspective, while artists have access to sophisticated infrastructure capable of supporting ambitious productions.
Flexible Stage Design
At the heart of Apple Music Hall is a 38-foot-wide stage that can be adapted to suit different performance formats.
Artists can use the stage for a conventional front-facing concert setup or configure it for a more immersive, in-the-round experience. This flexibility allows performers to tailor their shows to the space and create different relationships with the audience.
The venue is designed to combine the atmosphere of a small live performance with the production capabilities needed for large-scale touring artists.
One of its key features is a 48-speaker Spatial Audio sound system positioned throughout the audience area. When performances are produced in Spatial Audio, listeners can experience music in a more immersive environment, with sound surrounding the audience rather than coming from a single direction.
This technology is designed to give both artists and fans new ways to experience live performances and the details of a musical performance.
A Full Production Facility
It Music Hall is more than a live performance venue. Behind the stage, the facility has been designed as a complete production environment, allowing performances to be recorded, mixed, filmed, and prepared for distribution.
The venue includes two dedicated recording and mixing studios, built to professional standards. Every performance can be captured as a multitrack recording, providing the flexibility to create a final mix in Spatial Audio either during the performance or afterward.
The venue is also equipped to support extensive video production. Infrastructure for 16 or more cameras connects to a dedicated broadcast control room, enabling multicamera coverage of performances.
It Music Hall also supports iPhone video capture alongside traditional broadcast camera systems. This combination creates additional opportunities for artists and production teams to capture performances from different perspectives and produce content for a range of platforms.
The result is an integrated production environment where an artist can perform an intimate show for a live audience while simultaneously creating high-quality audio and video content.
A single performance can potentially result in a finished Spatial Audio recording, a broadcast-ready audio mix, and multicamera video production.
Bringing Live Performances to a Global Audience
While It Music Hall is physically located in London, its performances are designed to reach audiences around the world.
Shows from the venue will be livestreamed globally, allowing fans outside London to experience performances from their favorite artists. This approach extends the reach of the venue beyond its 600-person capacity and gives artists an opportunity to connect with a much larger audience.
For fans, the livestreams provide access to special performances that may otherwise be limited to those able to attend in person.
The combination of a physical venue, advanced production infrastructure, and global streaming capability positions Apple Music Hall as a space where live music can be experienced both in the room and around the world.
Connecting Artists and Fans
It says its commitment to Apple Music Hall is rooted in its broader focus on music, artists, and the relationship between performers and their audiences.
“At Apple Music, we care deeply about music, the artists who make it, and their life stories,” said Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director and lead anchor for Apple Music 1. “We’re always looking for new opportunities to connect the artists and the fans because we are fans.”
Lowe added that It Music Hall provides an opportunity to celebrate that relationship through live performances in a purpose-built space and share those experiences with audiences around the world.
The venue is expected to provide a platform for artists to experiment with different performance formats while giving audiences the opportunity to experience live music in a more intimate setting.

Blending Music, Technology, and Creativity
It Music Hall brings together several areas of Apple’s focus on music and technology, including live performance, Spatial Audio, professional recording, video production, and global digital distribution.
Its design reflects the character of Battersea Power Station while incorporating technology intended for the demands of modern music production.
For artists, the venue provides a flexible stage, advanced sound system, recording studios, broadcast infrastructure, and livestreaming capabilities within a single location.
For fans, it offers the opportunity to experience performances up close while also making selected shows accessible to audiences around the world.
The opening of It Music Hall represents another step in Apple’s long-running involvement with music. From the iPod and iTunes to Apple Music and now a dedicated live performance venue, Apple continues to create new ways for artists and audiences to connect.
